~ Simon Plays Brahms Waltz in A-Flat Major, Op. 39 No. 15
Views: 869 | | | | | People who follow our videos may know that recently we were not very happy with the audio quality of our recordings. Especially annoying was the sound compensation of the built-in camcorder microphone. It was distorting the real sound picture a lot. We ...More now record a second sound track using two condensed, large diaphragm microphones Marshall MXL 992 connected to a computer. Once the video is ready we replace the camcorder's audio with our alternative sound track. |

~ Rudolf Haken "Surennatalia" 4th Mov. - 5-string viola duo
Views: 158 | | | | | "Surennatalia" - composed in 1998 by Rudolf Haken. Commissioned by George Brock for cellists Suren Bagratuni and Natalia Khoma. Recorded August 21, 2008 at Horseshoe Bottom Nature Preserve, Collison, Illinois.
The Prelude begins with a theme in 13/16 ...More time which resembles the "Mission Impossible" soundtrack, indicating that the suite should be attempted only by virtuosos. This is follwed by a funeral march. The third movement is entitled "Rag à grande vitesse", after the "train à grande vitesse" (French high-speed train). The title of the second rag, "Rag des regrets", is derived from "Valse des regrets" (the French name for Brahms' Waltz in A-flat Major). The work concludes with a Gigue.
Sheet music for "Surennatalia" (viola and cello versions) is available at www.rudolfhaken.com
