3 Doors Down

"We're not a band that just goes through the motions," says Chris. "We go at everything hard. What I'm most proud of about the new album is we left ourselves a way out. Everybody hit the proverbial brick wall. Everybody fell down and everybody got back up, then we all went back in the room and, what was great, was we found all these different paths to go down."

`Different' being the operative word here. Because what 3 Doors Down did after reconnecting with family, and `soul searching', was opt for a new process to the creative part of their relationship. One that emphasized the undeniable strength of the group. The fact that the sum is greater than any individual part. "It is all about getting in that room and hashing it out," recalls lead guitarist Matt Roberts. "If you look at a song like `Train,' it was one of the first songs we wrote for this album. It's kind of a building block that exemplifies the spirit of collaboration. Brad came with words and a melody and we hammered it out." "I remember I had that one in my head at home," laughs Brad. "I was singing it so much a friend threatened to kill me if I didn't get it down." Matt also remembers it as one of the `most fun songs to put together. "The best moments of this band have always been about keeping it a fun ride. You need that sense of accomplishment, but you also need to keep the process comfortable.". Adds Chris: "I think it's also fair to say we are one of the only `southern' bands who has the balls to put a song like `Train' out there these days."

The band rented an old farmhouse South of Franklin, Tennessee, where they would not only write songs, but live together, for a while. Says Brad: "The farmhouse was great because it became a wholehearted experience where we just focused on the writing. It was such a close-knit atmosphere, reconnecting us after we had been doing our own thing for a while. It set a cool mood for the entire record, writing out in the country around this fireplace in the basement. Just locking ourselves away and doing it."

Matt adds that the unique setting soon sparked 26 or 27 song ideas. "But winter turned colder than expected in Tennessee. So we decided to head to a warmer climate." The band found a ten bedroom mansion in a remote section of Orlando, Florida. They brought in Seventeen Days producer, Johnny K. and turned the house into a recording studio.

The originality of the two locations rejuvenated the band's approach. They worked hard to capture that sense of camaraderie on the final product. Once they nailed it, they packed up and headed back to Nashville. Talking legendary mixer, Andy Wallace, into abandoning his NY studio, again, (he also mixed Seventeen Days in Nashville), and they began the final process of putting the pieces together.

This album features inspired musicianship as well as some intriguing personal refrains, like on one `band favorite,' "Let Me Be Myself." "That one touches on the wrongheaded notion of how we often try destructive methods to try and kill our pain," says Brad. "But I also want the songs to be open to interpretation. More universal. That one is really talking about anything you can get lost in." And the ballad "Pages": "I think it has a lot of meaning for the whole band. What we've gone through," says Matt. "Brad is pointing out what's going on with his personal situation and ours. It was a very meaningful song for us."

The group also nails their share of (in-yer'-face)-rockers like "Runaway." "It's the kind of song you put on only to get somewhere else," says Todd. "Put it on in your car and drive as fast as you can." He and several of the guys also touch on the last song of the album, "She Don't Want The World," one of the most unique 3 Doors Down offerings yet. "That song has really become one of my favorites. It doesn't have a big chorus or anything, just Brad telling a story." Adds Brad: "We even use loops on that one. We were so willing to try different things. I think one of the reasons this is such an important album for us is because every one of us was in a different place prior to any other record we've ever made. And I would say a `better' place. But it's the kind of record that never would have happened if we didn't get off that merry go round for awhile."

For Greg (former Puddle Of Mudd drummer, born in Louisiana, raised in Oklahoma), a song like the gutsy "It's The Only One You've Got," also exemplifies the band's `sixth-sense' for cooperation. A true democracy - right down the line. "Just the way that it went down. Chris was trying to learn another song and stumbled upon the riff for this song. Brad was like `hold on, I've got something for that.' Then someone else would join in. The whole thing happened quickly, and it turned out to be such an inspiring song. This has been the most collaborative experience I've ever been involved in. And the most satisfying."

"We just can't wait to put this sugar out and get back out on the road," agrees Brad. "It's definitely the one where we got our `grit back."

2008-11-18 -- 1/5:: beccaness
I think that its worst cd. Compare to their others works and its flat.

2008-11-02 -- 2/5:: Very disappointing
I've been a fan of 3 Doors Down since their first album "The Better Life". I read the reviews of this release and was expecting another great cd. Unfortunately I was very disappointed. There are a couple of good rockers on this one but overall there are way too many mellow self indulgent tunes. The band has definately matured and grown as people which is great to see. Unfortunately they have lost the fire and real fellinf that made them a great band. They are following in the path of so many bands the come out with such outstanding initial efforts but seem to lose the edge and dynamic but intangible "something different" that made them so appealing. I have read reviews commenting on the improvement in musician ship and it is obvious on songs like Train and Citizen/Soldiers. It does not follow through on the majority of the songs. I've given a brief breakdown below:

Train-good rocking tune, classic 2 Doors Down

Citizen/Soldier-great song with something to say. Best on the cd. Need more like this.

It's Not My Time-ok song-typical top 40 fair-too light & not original-no fire but radio friendly(which does not mean good)

Let Me be Myself-ok tune, redundant top 40 lyrics. Skip after first couple of listens

Pages-better song, actually has something to say, tempo picks-p but they never really cut loose. Brad sings with more feeling than other tunes.

It's The Only One You've Got-another too mellow Top 40 type song (top 40 is not a good thing) Lyrics are good but song doesn't grab you. No fire and feeling doesn't carry over. Another skip after the first few listens

Give It To Me-Good song. Feeling back into the singing. Seems to really sing form the heart. Whole band seems to be involved. Very tight song.

These Days-up & down song that goes from really good to far to light & poppy. Great singing at times but overall far too much of a Top 40 pop song. Once again lacking in real fire or feeling.

Your Arms Feel Like Home-skip over track everytime after first listen. Just another "I'm in love again" song. Every band seems to eventually come out with the same song saying the same thing. Very unorigianal.

Runaway-Very poppy sounding song. OK tune but no edge and nothing special. Filler tune.

When It's Over-Ok tune. One I don't skip but kind of teases and doesn't really deliver.

She Don't Want The World-best slower tune on the cd. More feeling than the rest of the slower songs and great musicianship. A lot of tricks musically but they blend with and make the song unlike previous songs that start with some tricks and then don't deliver.

There are a grand total of four out of tewlve songs I skip over everytime I listen to this cd. Another two or three are only ok to listen to. So basically they have six out of tewlve songs that show how good this band could be. I would give this cd a 2.5 rating if I was able since only 50% is worth hearing more thaan once or twice. Since I can't do the 2.5 I lean toward a 2 instead of 3 stars.

2008-10-12 -- 5/5:: Amazing!
The best way I can think of to describe the new album is classic 3 Doors Down with a new twist. That's one of my favorite things about this band is that you can see them grow as artists from one album to the next without detracting from they're previous work.

That being said, 3DD is by far my favorite of theirs so far. With other CDs, you have the singles and then you'll pick out a couple songs you like that were never released and then the rest are just fillers; with 3DD every one is amazing.

It starts off with a bang with 'Train', which is a bit more aggressive than the rest but sets the mood perfectly.
Next is 'Citizen/Soldier' which I actually liked but the version on the album is downsized from the original and they cut out my favorite part of the song.
'It's Not My Time' by now everyone's heard this one. Great lyrics.
'Let Me Be Myself' Very vunerable song. Loved the melody but I like it better acoustic.
'Pages' is probably my favorite song from this album.
'It's the Only One You've Got' I hate and love this song because it really hits home.
'Give it to me' another favorite, great guitar.
'These Days' to me, this one was really emotional. I could tell it meant something to them.
'Your arms feel like home' every album needs a ballad.
'Runaway' Great driving song. More upbeat.
'When It's Over' Again, another one that sounded like they meant every word.
'She Don't Want the World' Artistically, this is probably the best one. I've read a lot about people thinking it's a sad song and a depressing end to the album but if you really listen to the lyrics at the end it's not. It's just him telling a story but Brad really makes you feel with this one. It's probably one of those you either love it or hate it songs.

2008-10-01 -- 4/5:: lovely listening
A fairly mellow CD in my opinion, but it always makes me feel happy and content, and a few of the songs make me want to hit "repeat" again and again and again!

2008-09-26 -- 5/5:: Great guys; great music
Maturity and growth show through for these southern rockers. Truly nice guys with heart. What a difference from so many other rock bands!

Rajab is one of the four months declared sacred by Allah (SWT) in the Glorious Qur'an. Special prayers and Aamal that can be prayed and carried out on any day or daily for this seventh month of Islamic lunar calendar reached us on the authority of the

...More

Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw), Imam Ali (as), Imam Zainul Abideen (as), Imam Jafar Sadiq (as) and Imam Sahib Zaman (as), are given below: 1. The month of Rajab, in its superabundant favors and benefits, reverence and sanctity, is next to none. It is linked to Almighty Allah (SWT) as Sha'ban to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) and Ramadan to his Ummah (Muslim Community). 2. Who so observes fast (even one day) during the month of Rajab gets Allah's pleasure. 3. Ask forgiveness and turn repentant to Allah (SWT) as much as you can because mercy drops from the heaven like a gentle rain in the month of Rajab (also known as "As'abb" - pouring out, full of love and kindness). 4. Allah (SWT) shall forgive and have mercy on him who recites: Astaghfirulaahallad'ee Laa Ilaaha Ilaa Huwa Wah'dahoo La Shareeka Lahoo Wa Atoobu Ilayh (I ask forgiveness of Allah, who is "There is no God save He, and no other; has no partner"; and I turn repentant to Him) at least 100 times (400 times will accrue more rewards), and recites "Laa Ilaaha Illallaah" 1000 times, during the month of Rajab, and gives alms in the name of Allah at the completion. 5. Recite Surah Al-Ikhlas at least 100 times (1000 or 10000 times will accrue more rewards) in the month of Rajab. 6. Keep fast on any day in the month of Rajab. Fazilat of Fasting in the Month of Rajab, seventh month of the Islamic lunar calendar: Rajab marks the beginning of the spiritual season of every believer ending with the end of the fasting month of Ramadan with the Eid Al-Fitr. These three months (Rajab, Sha'ban and Ramadan) are unmatched in their importance. Praise be to the Almighty and thanks to Him for granting us yet another opportunity to cleanse ourselves of our sins and oversights. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) has said: "Rajab is a great month of Allah (SWT), unmatched by any other month in the respect and significance (accorded to it); war with the infidels during this month is prohibited; Verily, Rajab is Allah's month, Sha'ban my month and Ramadan the month of my Ummah; whosoever fasts a day in the month of Rajab will be granted the great reward of Ridwan (an angel in heaven); the wrath of Allah (SWT) shall be distanced and a door of the Hell shall be closed." Fasting is one of the most recommended acts during this spiritual season. It becomes Wajib (obligatory) during the month of Ramadan, but is highly recommended during the months of Rajab and Sha'ban. As will be noted from the Hadith above and others to follow, fasting, be it for only one day during these months, is rewarded with untold bounties. Hazrat Salman Al-Farsi narrates that the Final messenger of Allah, the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) said that there is a day in the month of Rajab on which if a person fasts and does Qiyaamul Lail (night vigil) on that night, he will receive rewards like a person who fasts for 100 years and does Qiyaamul Lail for nights of 100 years. This night is the night of the 27th (Rajab) and the day of the 27th (Rajab). This is the day on which the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) was appointed to Messenger hood. Hazrat Salman Al-Farsi narrates that the Beloved of Allah, the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) said "O Salman, there is no Mumin (True Believer) and Muminah (Truly Believing Female) who performs 30 Raka'ah in the month of Rajab and in each Raka'ah recites Surah Al-Fatihah once, Surah Al-Ikhlas 3 times, and Surah Al-Kafiroon 3 times that Allah (SWT) does forgive them their sins and bestows rewards upon them as upon a person who has fasted a whole month. He becomes among those who will be steadfast in their Salaat in the year which is to come. For him the deeds of the day are equal to that of the martyr. He will be raised with the Martyrs of the Holy Battle of Badr. For him is written for the fast of each day, one year's worship. His station is raised 1000 times higher. If he fasts the entire month of Rajab and he performs this (above) Salaat, Allah (SWT) will give him salvation from the Hell Fire, make Wajib (obligatory) for him, His Paradise and bestow His Nearness upon him. Hazrat Jibril (Gabriel) informed me "O Muhammad this is the sign between you and the Mushrikeen (Polytheists) and the Munafiqun (Hypocrites) because the Munafiq does not perform this Salaat." Hazrat Salman Al-Farsi says, I beseeched "O messenger of Allah tell me when and how shall I perform this Salaat (Prayer)" The Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) said "O Salman, perform 10 Raka'ah on the first of it (month of Rajab) and in each Raka'ah recite Surah Al-Fatihah once, Surah Al-Ikhlas 3 times, and Surah Al-Kafiroon 3 times and after you do your Salaam (at the end of the Salaat) raise your hands and say: "There is no God but Allah, The One Who has no partners. To Him belong His entire Kingdom and all the praise, Who created life and death and Who is Alive without Death. From His hands (only) good is done and Who has Power over everything. Dearest Allah, no one can stop what You bestow and no one can give what You prevent. There is no one who can profit us except You the August among all." Then spread your hands over your face. In the middle of the month perform 10 Raka'ah and in each Raka'ah recite Surah Al-Fatihah once, Surah Al-Ikhlas 3 times, and Surah Al-Kafiroon 3 times and after you do your salaam (at the end of the Salaat) raise your hands towards the heavens and say: "There is no God but Allah, the One who has no partners. To Him belong His entire Kingdom and all the praise. Who created life and death and Who is Alive without Death. From His Hands (only) good is done and Who has Power over everything. The only God, Unique, Who has no needs. He has no wife and no children." Then spread your hands over your face. You perform this Salaat at the end of the month, 10 Raka'ah. In every Raka'ah recite Surah Al-Fatihah once, Surah Al-Ikhlas 3 times, and Surah Al-Kafiroon 3 times. After you do your salaam, raise your hand towards the heaven and say: "There is no God but Allah, The One Who has no partners. To Him belong His entire Kingdom and all the praise. Who created life and death and Who is Alive without Death. From His Hands (only) good is done and Who has Power over everything. And the blessing of Allah be upon the Master Muhammad and upon his pure progeny and there is no power greater than that of Allah Who is the Greatest in Might". Then ask for your needs (to be fulfilled). Your Supplication will be accepted and Allah (SWT) will create 70 trenches between you and the Hell fire, the distance between each trench will be like it is between Heaven and Earth and written for you will be freedom from Fire of Hell, and from crossing the Bridge of Siraat." When the Beloved of Allah, The Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) had finished, I fell down in prostration, weeping out of gratitude towards Allah (SWT) for the abundance of the rewards. We present this beautiful hadith from Imam Musa Kadhim (as) on the greatness of Rajab and just fasting one day from this blessed month. It has been narrated from the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) in a very long hadith that there is no month as great or noble in the sight of Allah (SWT) as the month of Rajab and even the Arabs of the time of Ignorance held this month in great esteem, and with the coming of the religion of al-Islam at the hands of the final Messenger of Allah, nothing was added to it except an increase in its greatness. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) went on to say that the month of Rajab is the month of Allah; Sha'ban was his month and the month of Ramadan was the month of his Ummah (Muslim Community). In this length tradition which can be found in Thawaab al-Aamal wa Iqaab al-Aamal (new print), Page 115 to 124, the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) went on to mention the specialties and favors that would be showered upon that person who fasted during this month and for every day he fasted, a different favor and bounty would be graced upon him. Our Holy Prophet Muhammad (may Allah shower him and his righteous family with never-ending blessings), if a person were to fast one day in this month for the belief and hope of reward from Allah (SWT), then he would have earned the pleasure of Allah (SWT) and the fast of that one day would put out the anger of Allah (SWT) and would cause the doors of the hellfire to be closed for him. If the entire land were to be filled with gold and that gold was to be spent in the way of Allah (SWT), then even this act would not add up to the bounties of fasting just one day. There is not a single thing in the world that would perfect that person's reward except for good (from Allah (SWT)) as long as he was sincere to Allah (SWT) (in has fasting). When the evening time comes, ten of that person's prayers would be granted, and if he were to supplicate for anything of the worldly life, Allah (SWT) would give it to him, and if it were not given to him, then Allah (SWT) would preserve that which is greater (than what he supplicated for) and that which the friends, lovers and chosen ones of Allah have prayed to him for. We pray to Allah (SWT) during this blessed month that we are able to supplicate to Him and that our supplications, especially that of the speedy return of our Imam and Master al-Mahdi al-Muntazar (May our souls be sacrificed for the dirt under his feet), are accepted. May Allah (SWT) give us all the strength and will-power to fast this entire month as a prelude to the month of Sha'ban - a month of blessings and mercy including the birth anniversary of the Savior of Humanity on the 15th of the Month, culminating with the Blessed month of Ramadan - the month of peace and tranquility. Useful points for this month of Rajab - An Important Spiritual Month: 1) Fasting: It is highly recommended to fast in this month of Rajab even for one day at least. A hadith says: Whosoever fasts a day in Rajab, the fire of hell will be away from him a distance of one year's journey, and whosoever fasts 3 days in Rajab, will be entitled for Paradise. Imam Ali (as) used to fast the whole month of Rajab. 2) Seeking Forgiveness (Al-Istighfaar, Istighfar): The Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) used to say: Rajab is a month of seeking forgiveness, so seek forgiveness from Allah (SWT); He is verily the Forgiver, the Merciful. It is highly recommended to repeat 'Astaghfirullaah wa as-aluhut tawbah' 3) Sadaqa and Charity: There is a big reward for Sadaqa and charity in the month of Rajab. Those who cannot fast may give Sadaqa to the poor every day, or recite 'Subhana Ilalahil Jaleele Subhana Man la Yanbaghil Tasbeeho Illa Lahoo; Subhanal A'azzinil Akrame; Subhana Man Labisal Izza wa Howa Lahoo Ahlun.' 4) Repeating 'Laa ilaaha illa-Allah' 1000 times. 5) Repeating 'Astaghfirullaaha zul jalale wal Ikraam min jamee al zonoobe wal aathaam' 1000 times. 6) Repeating Sura Al Tawheed 'Qul-ho-wallaho Ahad' or Surah Al-Ikhlas 1000 times to get the reward of 1000 Angels and blessings on the reciter, his / her children, family and neighbours. 7) It is recommended to recite Sura Al Tawheed 'Qul-ho-wallaho Ahad' or Surah Al-Ikhlas 100 times every Friday in the month of Rajab. Praise be to the Almighty Allah (SWT) and thanks to Him for granting us yet another opportunity to cleanse ourselves of our sins and oversights.

John Sebastian (born John Benson Sebastian on 17 March 1944, in Greenwich Village, New York City) is an American songwriter and harmonica player. He is best known as a founder of The Lovin' Spoonful, a band named in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. His tie

-dyed denim jacket is prominently displayed there. One of his first recording gigs was playing harmonica for Fred Neil on his Bleecker & MacDougal album in 1965. He came up through the Even Dozen Jug Band and The Mugwumps, which split to form the Lovin' Spoonful and The Mamas & the Papas. Sebastian was joined by Zal Yanovsky, Steve Boone and Joe Butler in the Spoonful, which was named after a Mississippi John Hurt song. Sebastian also played autoharp on occasion. The Lovin' Spoonful became part of the American response to the British Invasion and was noted for such folk-flavored hits as "Jug Band Music," "Do You Believe in Magic", "Summer in the City", "Daydream," "Nashville Cats," "Did You Ever Have to Make Up Your Mind," "Six O'Clock," and "Younger Girl." The band, however, began to implode after a 1967 marijuana bust in San Francisco involving Yanovsky, a Canadian citizen. Facing deportation, he gave up the name of his dealer, which caused a fan backlash and internal strife. Neither John Sebastian nor Joe Butler was involved in the matter; they weren't even in San Francisco at the time. Yanovsky left, replaced by Jerry Yester in 1967. Sebastian remained in the band but departed in 1968. He and the original band reunited to appear in the film One Trick Pony starring Paul Simon and Blair Brown. Sebastian embarked on a moderately successful solo career after leaving the Lovin' Spoonful in 1968. Sebastian was popular among the rock festival circuits. He had a memorable, albeit unscheduled appearance at Woodstock, appearing after Country Joe McDonald's set, playing songs such as "I Had A Dream," "Rainbows All Over Your Blues" and "Younger Generation" which he dedicated to a newborn baby at the festival. Sebastian also returned for Woodstock '94, playing harmonica for Crosby, Stills and Nash. Sebastian released his eponymous LP John B. Sebastian in 1970, which featured him accompanied by various L.A. musicians. In 1976, Sebastian had a number one single with, Welcome Back, the theme song to the Welcome Back, Kotter television show, which found new life decades later when a sample from it became the hook for rapper Mase's 2004 hit "Welcome Back". Recently, he has played with John Sebastian and the J-Band, a jug band including Fritz Richmond from the Jim Kweskin Jug Band, Yank Rachell, an original jug-band leader, and Geoff Muldaur. Several modern musicians cite him as a large influence, including renowned blues harmonica player, Mike Tetrault. As a songwriter, Sebastian's songs have been covered by Elvis Costello ("The Room Nobody Lives In"), Dolly Parton, Del McCoury, Helen Reddy, Brenda Lee, Johnny Cash, Bobby Darin, Slade, Joe #@!&er and Jimmy Buffett ("The Stories We Can Tell"). In later years, Sebastian hosted several television programs regarding '60s' music, including infomercials for compilations sets, and a half-hour program called The Golden Age of Rock and Roll, which was usually composed of video footage of 1960s bands performing on variety shows. He also hosted a Spoonful retrospective broadcast over PBS in March 2007, talking about various Spoonful numbers in between vintage video clips of the band up to the time he left. In 2007, Sebastian released a guitar instructional DVD for Homespun Video teaching solo guitar adaptations of eight of his Spoonful hits including "Daydream", "Nashville Cats", and his solo hit "Welcome Back". He has also released an instructional DVD teaching beginning level autoharp. (Sebastian played both harmonica and autoharp on Shanachie's 2002 compilation CD "Man of Constant Sorrow".) Sebastian and the J Band appear in the do#@!&entary about the roots and influence of jug band music, Chasin' Gus' Ghost, which screened in August 2007 at the San Francisco Jug Band Festival and made its film festival debut in October 2007 at the Woodstock Film Festival. In the film, Sebastian humorously explains, with musical accompaniment, how his hit song "Younger Girl" was inspired by Gus Cannon's "Prison Wall Blues." He also performed at the festival with other musicians featured in the film, including Geoff Muldaur, Maria Muldaur, Jim Kweskin and David Grisman. Sebastian played harmonica with The Doors on the song Roadhouse Blues under the pseudonym G. Puglese to avoid problems with his contract, which was featured on Morrison Hotel album, also played on "Little Red Rooster" on the live album Alive, She Cried and on seven songs on Live In Detroit. He is also credited with playing harmonica on Crosby Stills Nash & Young's "Déjà Vu" from the album of the same name.

es before you get inside Well, youll never be allowed. People got a name for us cos we escape the strain of the days Oh we stretch at the sides and bend in the middle But we never ever break. But if youre feeling that way now, Or if you ever feel so inclined - Skip past the doors of boring forty somethings and rise. Oh, and if you want to lose your frown, Or your name or even your face - Lick up a dream that seemingly sings with whistling neon breath. Come and have a drink with us, A little wine or a nice champagne? Oh thanks thats nice, and I would decline, But at night things seem to change. People got a name for us, cos we escape the strain of the days - Oh we stretch at the sides and bend in our minds But well never ever change. And if youre feeling that way now, Or if you ever feel so inclined, Well, kick in the shins of all those #@!&ing whingers and rise. Oh and if you want to lose your frown, Or your name or even your face, Lick up a dream that seemingly sings with whistling neon breath. Sid was at the gates of dawn, And Jimmy said ride the snake: So we bent our spoons and howled at the moon To find what science replaced. And it turns out it aint that much Though I may have missed it in the haze - Oh drips in the mind and fills up your eyes But well never be the same. (Shhh) But if youre ever coming down, Or if you ever take too much - Remember thats much better than never ever getting enough. So if your want to lose your frown, Or your name or even your face, Lick up a dream that seemingly screams with rushing neon death. All your spirits gone, and you are barley alive. You hand me a smoke, though its like you hardly notice. And its sad I suppose - When I look into your eyes you say: It seems to go this way, no matter whats at stake, Oh it seems to go this way with everything I start! (Solo) So if youre feeling that way now, Or if you ever feel so inclined - Skip past the doors of boring forty somethings and rise. bably too cool and busy for that. ***** Total estimated time: 32 hours. 8 days of work, 4 hours a day. Post your top 10 in the comments! Warning: Do not look below unless you wish to know the order of the bands and the songs on the video. I have used Microsoft Excel to determine which bands deserved the spots. I used the following categories to place them in their correct order: -U.S. Sales (Out of 100) -Songs and Songwriting (Out of 100) -Technical Ability (Out of 100) -Innovation (Out of 100) -Live Performance (Out of 50) -Consistency (Out of 50) Idea & Template taken from: http://www.avrev.com/bands/ EDIT: Haha, I love some of the mean comments on here. I was hoping it would generate some good discussion. If you disagree with my list, I feel that making your own list would be a more reasonable way of showing it other than just sitting there and bashing mine. And to everyone out there who says this list sucks because one or two of your favorite bands weren't on here OR a band you happen to dislike was on here, get over yourself. People have different taste in music. Songs used: Intro: "The Final Countdown" by Europe 50. "Fight For Your Right" by The Beastie Boys 49. "You Really Got Me" by The Kinks 48. "Blitzkrieg Bop" by The Ramones 47. "Vicarious" by Tool 46. "Know Your Enemy" by Rage Against The Machine 45. "Ziggy Stardust" by David Bowie and the Spiders From Mars 44. "The Number of the Beast" by Iron Maiden 43. "Them Bones" by Alice In Chains 42. "War Pigs" by Black Sabbath 41. "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana 40. "Under The Bridge" by Red Hot Chili Peppers 39. "Juke Box Hero" by Foreigner 38. "You Give Love A Bad Name" by Bon Jovi 37. "More Than A Feeling" by Boston 36. "Even Flow" by Pearl Jam 35. "Welcome To The Jungle" by Guns N' Roses 34. "Touch of Grey" by The Grateful Dead 33. "Born in the U.S.A." by Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band 32. "Crossroads" by Cream 31. "Jessica" by The Allman Brothers Band 30. "Renegade" by Styx 29. "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing" by Aerosmith 28. "Black Hole Sun" by Soundgarden 27. "Aja" by Steely Dan 26. "Invisible Touch" by Genesis 20. "Interstate Love Song" by Stone Temple Pilots 19. "Thunderstruck" by AC/DC 18. "Barbara Ann" by The Beach Boys 17. "Staying Alive" by The Bee Gees 16. "London Calling" by The Clash 15. "I Wanna Rock And Roll All Night" by Kiss 14. "Tom Sawyer" by Rush 13. "Start Me Up" by The Rolling Stones 12. "Every Breath You Take" by The Police 11. "I Shot The Sheriff" by Bob Marley and The Wailers 10. "Light My Fire" by The Doors 9. "Hotel California" by The Eagles 8. "Jump" by Van Halen 7. "Beautiful Day" by U2 6. "Master of Puppets" by Metallica 5. "Somebody To Love" by Queen 4. "All Along The Watchtower" by The Jimi Hendrix Experience 3. "Another Brick In The Wall" by Pink Floyd 2. "Hey Jude" by The Beatles 1. "Stairway To Heaven" by Led Zeppelin Credits: "Through The Fire And Flames" by Dragonforce I tried not to be bias during the making of this list, which was hard because my favorite band, AC/DC, was only ranked 19th. They just didn't have much Innovation. And yeah, I know that's not a picture of Boston. Sorry, Google Images tricked me. OH and to everyone who says that The Beatles should be number 1: While The Beatles were undoubtedly higher in U.S. Sales, Songwriting, and Innovation, they lacked the most in their Technical Ability, ranking a 79/100, while Led Zeppelin ranked a 98/100. Led Zeppelin also ranked higher in Live Performance and Consistency. So, if you were wondering how it was possible, there you go. Other bands that were nearly included were: Velvet Underground, Prince & The Revolution, Foo Fighters, System Of A Down, The Cars, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Jethro Tull, Sublime, ZZ Top, ABBA, Chicago, Dire Straits, Talking Heads, The Band, The Proclaimers, Duran Duran, Primus, Sex Pistols, Lynyrd Skynyrd, R.E.M., The Jackson 5, Motley Crue, Motorhead, Radiohead, Kansas, The Scorpions, Judas Priest, Sly and the Family Stone, Audioslave, Blondie, The Carpenters, Dixie Chicks, Parliament Funkadelic, King Crimson, Bad Religion, No Doubt, Deep Purple, James Brown and the JBs, and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Enjoy!

fear And of sorrow and pain She'll never outgrow Death is the first dance, eternal There's no more freedom The both of you will be confined to this mind I was told there's miracle for each day that I try I was told there's a new love that's born for each one that has died I was told there'd be no one to call on when I feel alone and afraid I was told if you dream of the next world You'll find yourself swimming in a lake of fire As a child, I thought I could live without pain without sorrow As a man I've found it's all caught up with me I'm asleep yet I'm so afraid Somewhere like a scene from a memory There's a picture worth a thousand words Eluding stares from faces before me It hides away and will never be heard of again Deceit is the second without end The city's cold blood teaches us to survive Just keep my heart in your eyes and we'll stay alive The third arrives... Before the leaves have fallen Before we lock the doors There must be the third and last dance This one will last forever Metropolis watches and thoughtfully smiles She's taken you to your home It can only take place When the struggle between our children has ended Now the Miracle and the Sleeper know that the third is love Love is the Dance of Eternity

Bush If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible; who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time; who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer. Its the answer told by lines that stretched around schools and churches in numbers this nation has never seen; by people who waited three hours and four hours, many for the very first time in their lives, because they believed that this time must be different; that their voice could be that difference. Its the answer spoken by young and old, rich and poor, Democrat and Republican, black, white, Latino, Asian, Native American, gay, straight, disabled and not disabled Americans who sent a message to the world that we have never been a collection of Red States and Blue States: we are, and always will be, the United States of America. But above all, I will never forget who this victory truly belongs to it belongs to you. I was never the likeliest candidate for this office. We didnt start with much money or many endorsements. Our campaign was not hatched in the halls of Washington it began in the backyards of Des Moines and the living rooms of Concord and the front porches of Charleston. It was built by working men and women who dug into what little savings they had to give five dollars and ten dollars and twenty dollars to this cause. It grew strength from the young people who rejected the myth of their generations apathy; who left their homes and their families for jobs that offered little pay and less sleep; from the not-so-young people who braved the bitter cold and scorching heat to knock on the doors of perfect strangers; from the millions of Americans who volunteered, and organized, and proved that more than two centuries later, a government of the people, by the people and for the people has not perished from this Earth. This is your victory. I know you didnt do this just to win an election and I know you didnt do it for me. You did it because you understand the enormity of the task that lies ahead. For even as we celebrate tonight, we know the challenges that tomorrow will bring are the greatest of our lifetime two wars, a planet in peril, the worst financial crisis in a century. Even as we stand here tonight, we know there are brave Americans waking up in the deserts of Iraq and the mountains of Afghanistan to risk their lives for us. There are mothers and fathers who will lie awake after their children fall asleep and wonder how theyll make the mortgage, or pay their doctors bills, or save enough for college. There is new energy to harness and new jobs to be created; new schools to build and threats to meet and alliances to repair. This is our chance to answer that call. This is our moment. This is our time to put our people back to work and open doors of opportunity for our kids; to restore prosperity and promote the cause of peace; to reclaim the American Dream and reaffirm that fundamental truth that out of many, we are one; that while we breathe, we hope, and where we are met with cynicism, and doubt, and those who tell us that we cant, we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of a people: Yes We Can.
