"Another Day" is a song recorded by Paul McCartney in New York in 1970, during the sessions for his album ...More Ram. It was released as a stand-alone single, the first of McCartney's solo career, on the Apple Records label in February 1971 with "Oh Woman, Oh Why" as the B-side.
"Another Day" is written in an observational style reminiscent of "Eleanor Rigby" and "She's Leaving Home". The lyrics describe the drudgery and sadness of an unnamed woman's life at work and at home, with the lilting melody of the verses and "du du du"s of the chorus contrasting with the darker tone (lyrically and musically) of the bridges. Linda McCartney provided harmony vocals. Her husband credited her as co-writer. However, this was seen as a business maneuver in the post-Beatles legal matters.
The song was a hit in both the U.S. and UK, achieving top-5 status on both sides of the Atlantic, reaching U.S. #5 and UK #2 in April of 1971.[1] In Australia the song spent 1 week at #1. In France was also a #1 hit.
Although neither "Another Day" nor "Oh Woman, Oh Why" were actually a part of any McCartney album, some CD re-releases of Ram have one or both songs as bonus tracks. "Another Day" has also appeared on several of McCartney's greatest hits albums, including Wings Greatest, All the Best!, and Wingspan: Hits and History, although it should be noted that the song definitely predates the formation of Wings. It is the first in a very long succession of solo McCartney hits.
This song is referenced in John Lennon's "How Do You Sleep?"
Lyrics:
Every day she takes a morning bath as she wets her hair,
Wraps a towel around her, as she's heading for the bedroom chair,
It's just another day.
Slipping into stockings,
Stepping into shoes,
Dipping in the pocket of her raincoat.
Ah, it's just another day.
At the office where the papers grow she takes a break,
Drinks another coffee, and she finds it hard to stay awake,
It's just another day. Du du du du du
It's just another day. Du du du du du
lt's just another day.
Ay
so sad, so sad,
Sometimes she feels so sad.
Alone in her apartment she'd dwell,
Till the man of her dreams comes to break the spell.
Ah, stay, don't stand around
And he comes and he stays
But he leaves the next day,
So sad.
Sometimes she feels so sad.
As she posts another letter to the sound of five,
People gather 'round her, and she finds it hard to stay alive,
It's just another day. Du du du du du
It's just another day. Du du du du du
It's just another day.
Ay
so sad, so sad,
Sometimes she feels so sad.
Alone in her apartment she'd dwell,
Till the man of her dreams comes to break the spell.
Ah, stay, don't stand around
And he comes and he stays
But he leaves the next day,
So sad.
Sometimes she feels so sad.
Every day she takes a morning bath she wets her hair,
Wraps a towel around her, as she's heading for the bedroom chair,
It's just another day.
Slipping into stockings,
Stepping into shoes,
Dipping in the pockets of her raincoat.
Ah, it's just another day. Du du du du du
It's just another day. Du du du du du
It's just another day. |

I can wait another day until I call you
You've only got my heart on a string and everything a flutter
But another lonely night (and another,
and ano ...More ther)
Might take forever(and another, and another)
We've only got each other
to blame
It's all the same to me love
'cause I know what I feel to be right
No more lonely nights
No more lonely nights
You're my guiding light
Day or night I'm always there
May I never miss the thrill of being
near you
And if it takes a couple of years
To turn your tears to laughter
I will do what I feel to be right
No more lonely nights
Never be another
No more lonely nights
You're my guiding light
Day or night I'm always there
And I won't go away until you tell me so
No I'll never go away
Yes I know what I feel to be right

"I've Just Seen a Face" is a song by The Beatles. It appears on their 1965 album, Help!, as well a ...More s the American release of their album Rubber Soul from the same year.
"I've Just Seen a Face" was written by Paul McCartney, and features McCartney on vocals. Before its release, the song was briefly titled "Aunty Gin's Theme," after his father's youngest sister, because it was one of her favorites.
The Help! version was recorded on 14 June 1965 at Abbey Road Studios in London in the same session with "Yesterday."
McCartney live versions
The song has remained a favourite of McCartney's as indicated by live performances during his solo career. It was one of only five Beatles numbers performed on his Wings Over America Tour in 1976. Post-Beatles live versions appear on the 1976 album Wings over America, on the 1991 album Unplugged (The Official Bootleg), and on the 2005 DVD, Live In Red Square.

The View recorded the song as a b-side to their "Skag Trendy/The Don" double A-side single.
Beck Hansen also recorded an obscure parody titled "I've Just Seen a Face Lift", which appears on an early demo tape.

"All Things Must Pass" is a song written by George Harrison.
During The Beatles Get Back sessions in January 1969, this was ...More one of many songs the group rehearsed to be part of their new album. As the sessions progressed, the song was pushed to the side. After the project was abandoned, Harrison recorded a solo demo of the song on multi-track tape on February 25, 1969. (The demo of the song was released on The Beatles' Anthology 3 album in 1996.) The song was never formally recorded by The Beatles by the time of their break-up, although considering the subject matter of the song, it would have been very suitable for their final release Let It Be in 1970.
Harrison recorded the definitive version on his landmark All Things Must Pass album later that year.
The song underwent a number of small changes from when it was first written in late 1968. The line "a mind can blow those clouds away" was originally written as the more literal "a wind can blow those clouds away," but bootlegs from the January 1969 Beatles sessions reveal John Lennon suggesting the change to "mind" to include a bit of "psychedelia" in the song. Perspective on one line was slightly changed from "It's not always been this grey" (with The Beatles) on the demo to "It's not always gonna be this grey" (on his own) on the final recording.
Billy Preston, who played keyboard during "Get Back/Let It Be" sessions and later performed with The Beatles at the Roof Concert, recorded his version of the song on "Encouraging Words" album (as well as he recorded My Sweet Lord)- before it surfaced on Harrison's triple album.
The title and lyrics of the song probably come from the last words of Buddah: "All composite things pass away. Strive for your own liberation with diligence" (often shortened to "All things must pass away".)
Paul McCartney sang this song at the Concert for George memorial for Harrison on November 29, 2002.
Lyrics:
Sunrise doesn't last all morning
A cloudburst doesn't last all day
Seems my love is up and has left you with no warning
But it's not always going to be this grey
All things must pass
All things must pass away
Sunset doesn't last all evening
A mind can blow those clouds away
After all this my love is up and must be leaving
It's not always going to be this grey
All things must pass
All things must pass away
All things must pass
None of life's strings can last
So I must be on my way
And face another day
Now the darkness only stays at night time
In the morning it will fade away
Daylight is good at arriving at the right time
It's not always going to be this grey
All things must pass
All things must pass away
All things must pass
All things must pass away |
