"Tell Me Why" is a song by The Beatles from their album A Hard Day's Night In the US it would also be on th ...More e album Something New. Credited to Lennon & McCartney, it was written by John Lennon in either Paris or New York, it was completed in only eight takes on Thursday, 27 February 1964, at Abbey Road Studios, London.
Paul McCartney has said:
I think a lot of these [Lennon's] songs like "Tell Me Why" may have been based in real experiences or affairs John was having, or arguments with Cynthia or whatever, but it never occurred to us until later to put that slant on it all.
Lennon described the song as resembling "a black New York girl-group song". Its basic structure of simple doo-wop chord changes and block harmonies over a walking bass line "creates an illusion of sincerity through its sheer attack".
Recorded Abbey Road Studios

Lyrics:
Tell me why you cried
And why you lied to me
Tell me why you cried
And why you lied to me
Well I gave you everything I had
But you left me sitting on my own
Did you have to treat me oh so bad
All I do is hang my head and moan
Tell me why you cried
And why you lied to me
Tell me why you cried
And why you lied to me
If there's something I have said or done
Tell me what and I'll apologize
If you don't I really can't go on
Holding back these tears in my eyes
Tell me why you cried
And why you lied to me
Tell me why you cried
And why you lied to me
Well I'm beggin' on my bended knees
If you'll only listen to my pleas
Is there anything I can do
'cause I really can't stand it
I'm so in love with you
Tell me why you cried
And why you lied to me
Tell me why you cried
And why you lied to me |

"Ask Me Why" is a song by The Beatles originally released in the United Kingdom as the B-side of their hit single "Please Please Me" . It was also included on their first UK album, Please Pl ...More ease Me.
The song was mainly a John Lennon composition, written in early 1962, but it was credited to Paul McCartney and John Lennon, as were all other Lennon/McCartney originals on the first pressings of Please Please Me album. It was part of their live act prior to their recording contract, and was one of the songs performed at their Parlophone audition in Abbey Road's studio three on 6 June 1962. Complex in arrangement, it emulates the style of Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, whom Lennon was influenced by, and the guitar phrase is drawn from the Miracles' "What's So Good About Goodbye" (1961).
"Ask Me Why" was recorded on 26 November 1962, the same day they attempted another Lennon and McCartney song called "Tip of My Tongue" which, along with "Ask Me Why" was also being considered for the B-side of the "Please Please Me" single. However, George Martin felt that "Tip of My Tongue" still needed some work, and it was eventually given to Tommy Quickly to record.
Other releases
Capitol Records, EMI's American counterpart to Parlophone, initially refused to distribute Beatle music in the U.S, and so the "Please Please Me"/"Ask Me Why" single was released by Vee-Jay Records on 25 February 1963.
Vee-Jay included "Ask Me Why" on version 2 of Introducing... The Beatles.
Capitol eventually released "Ask Me Why" in 1965 on The Early Beatles when Vee-Jay's rights expired.
Lyrics:
I love you
Cause you tell me things I want to know
And it's true
that it really only goes to show
That I know that I, I, I, I,
should never never never be blue
Now you're mine
my happiness dear makes me cry
And in time
you'll understand the reason why
If I cry it's not because I'm sad
But you're the only love that I've ever had
I can't believe, it's happened to me
I can't conceive of anymore misery
Ask me why, I'll say I love you
And I'm always thinking of you
I love you
Cause you tell me things I want to know
And it's true
that it really only goes to show
That I know that I, I, I, I,
should never never never be blue
Ask me why, I'll say I love you
And I'm always thinking of you
I can't believe, it's happened to me
I can't conceive of anymore misery
Ask me why, I'll say I love you
And I'm always thinking of you, you, you |

Helter Skelter" is a song written by Paul McCartney, credited to Lennon/ McCartney, and recorded by The B ...More eatles on The White Album. A product of McCartney's deliberate effort to create a sound as loud and dirty as possible, the clangorous piece has been noted for both a "proto-metal roar" and "unique textures." It was one of several White Album compositions taken by Charles Manson as elaborate prophecy of a war to arise from racial tensions between blacks and whites.
Inspiration
McCartney was inspired to write the song after reading an interview of The Who's Pete Townshend where he described their latest single, "I Can See for Miles," as the loudest, rawest, dirtiest song the Who had ever recorded. McCartney then "wrote 'Helter Skelter' to be the most raucous vocal, the loudest drums, etcetera" and said he was "using the symbol of a helter skelter as a ride from the top to the bottom—the rise and fall of the Roman Empire—and this was the fall, the demise." (In British English, the term helter-skelter not only has its meanings of "confused" or "confusedly" but is the name of a spiralling amusement park slide.) McCartney has used this song as a response to critics who accuse him of only writing ballads. John Lennon stated that Helter Skelter is "Paul's completely ... It has nothing to do with anything, and least of all to do with me."
Recording
The Beatles recorded the song multiple times during the The White Album sessions. During the 18 July 1968 sessions, a version of the song lasting 27 minutes and 11 seconds was recorded, although this version is rather slow and hypnotic, differing greatly from the volume and rawness of the album version. Another recording from the same day was edited down to 4:37 for Anthology 3. On September 9, eighteen takes of approximately five minutes each were recorded, and the last one is featured on the original LP. After the eighteenth take, Ringo Starr flung his sticks across the studio and screamed, "I've got blisters on my fingers!" The Beatles included Starr's shout on the stereo mix of the song (available on CD); the song completely fades out around 3:40, then gradually fades back in, fades back out partially, and quickly fades back in with three cymbal crashes and Ringo's scream. (Some sources erroneously credit the "blisters" line to Lennon; in fact, Lennon can be heard asking "How's that?" before the outburst.) The mono version (on LP only) ends on the first fadeout without Ringo's outburst. The mono version was not initially available in the US as mono albums had already been phased out there. The mono version was later released in the American version of the Rarities album.
According to Chris Thomas, who was present,[11] the 18 July session was especially spirited. "While Paul was doing his vocal, George Harrison had set fire to an ashtray and was running around the studio with it above his head, doing an Arthur Brown."[8] Starr's recollection is less detailed, but agrees in spirit: "'Helter Skelter' was a track we did in total madness and hysterics in the studio. Sometimes you just had to shake out the jams."
On the version that appears on the Anthology 3 album, McCartney occasionally sings "hell for leather" instead of "helter skelter".
Lyrics:
When I get to the bottom
I go back to the top of the slide
Where I stop and turn
and I go for a ride
Till I get to the bottom and I see you again
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Do you don't you want me to love you
I'm coming down fast but I'm miles above you
Tell me tell me come on tell me the answer
and you may be a lover but you ain't no dancer
Go helter skelter
helter skelter
helter skelter
Yeah, hu, hu
I will you won't you want me to make you
I'm coming down fast but don't let me break you
Tell me tell me tell me the answer
You may be a lover but you ain't no dancer
Look out
Helter skelter
helter skelter
helter skelter
Yeah, hu, hu
Look out cause here she comes
When I get to the bottom
I go back to the top of the slide
Where I stop and turn
and I go for a ride
Till I get to the bottom and I see you again
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Well will you won't you want me to make you
I'm coming down fast but don't let me break you
Tell me tell me tell me the answer
You may be a lover but you ain't no dancer
Look out
Helter skelter
helter skelter
helter skelter
Yeah, hu,
Helter Skelter
She's coming down fast
Yes she is

Pur it in your heart and keep it
Something that i want you to know
Do something for me
Listen to my simple story
And maybe we'll have something to show
You tell me you're cold on t ...More he inside
How can the outside world
Be a place that your heart can embrace
Be good to yourself
Because nobody else
Has the power to make you happy
How can i help you
Please let me try to
I can heal the pain
That you're feeling inside
Whenever you want me
You know that i will be
Waiting for the day
That you say you'll be mine
He must have really hurt you
To make you say the things that you do
He must have really hurt you
To make those pretty eyes look so so blue
He must have known
That he could
That you'd never leave him
Now you can't see my love is good
And that i'm not him
How can i help you
Please let me try to
I can heal the pain
Won't you let me inside
Whenever you want me
You know that i will be
Waiting for the day
That you say you'll be mine
Wont you let me in
Let this love begin
Wont you show me your heart now
Ill be good to you
I can make this thing true
And get to your heart somehow
Who needs a lover
That can't be a friend
Something tells me i'm the one you've been looking for
If you ever should see him again
Won"t you tell him you've found someone who gives you more
Someone who will protect you
Love and respect you
All those things
That he never could bring to you
Like i do
Or rather i would
Won't you show me your heart
Like you should
How can i help you
Please let me try to
I can heal the pain
That you're feeling inside
Whenever you want me
You know that i will be
Waiting for the day
That you say you'll be mine
Won't you let me in
Let this love begin
Won't you show me your heart now

I can make this true
And get to your heart somehow |

Why Are There Always So Many Other Things To Do?

"And Your Bird Can Sing" is a song by the The Beatles, released on their 1966 album Revolver in ...More the UK and on Yesterday...and Today in the U.S. The songwriting credit is Lennon/McCartney, though the song was written solely by John Lennon. The working title was "You Don't Get Me". Lennon was later dismissive of the song, referring to it as "another of my throwaways...fancy paper around an empty box"
The song, a hard-edged rocker, is memorable for its circular, dual-harmony guitar riff played by George Harrison and Paul McCartney (along with his usual bass guitar contributions). It consists of a second guitar overdubbed onto the first guitar.
A version of the song featuring a Byrds-like 12-string guitar, especially in the opening riff, was recorded on April 20, 1966, but this was scrapped and the group recorded the album version on April 26.[2] This rejected version is heard on the Anthology 2 album, and features a vocal track in which Lennon and McCartney are giggling hysterically. The Anthology liner notes do not indicate why they are laughing, claiming that the tapes do not indicate the source of the laughter.
A number of incidents have been proposed as inspirations for the song's cryptic lyrics. According to author Jonathan Gould, in his 2007 book, "Can't Buy Me Love," "bird" was a popular term that Frank Sinatra used to describe himself or others, and that Lennon wrote the song in response to an official press release promoting a Sinatra TV special as a show for those who were "tired of kid singers wearing mops of hair thick enough to hide a crate of melons." Lennon was also dismayed that Sinatra won Grammys for Best Album and Best Male Vocalist in 1965 over the Beatles' Rubber Soul, or Bob Dylan and his popular release, Highway 61. Lennon responds in the song, "Tell me that you've heard every sound there is, and your bird can swing. But you can't hear me. You can't hear me."
Another popular belief is that the song is said to be a message from John to Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones, in reference to Jagger's pop star girlfriend ("bird" in slang) Marianne Faithfull. Prior to the Revolver sessions, Lennon had received a singing mechanical caged bird as a gift from his first wife Cynthia, which he took as a horrible metaphor of his unhappy marriage. While high on marijuana, McCartney had reportedly jotted down that the secret of life was in "seven levels" ("seven wonders" in the song), which later became a joke with the group. The popular Beatles-influenced band The Jam covered this song as a B-side. The Georgia-based college band Guadalcanal Diary also covered this song, released as a CD bonus track on their 1987 album 2X4. Matthew Sweet and Susanna Hoffs covered it on their 2006 album Under the Covers, Vol. 1. Jack Black used its opening riff for inspiritation in a fight against Satan at each show of the Tenacious D 2006-2007 Tour.
Recorded Abbey Road Studios
20 April; 26 April 1966
Lyrics:
You say you've got everything you want
And your bird can sing
But you don't get me
you don't get me
You say you've seen the seven wonders
And you bird is green
But you can't see me
you can't see me
When your prized possessions
start to weigh you down
Look in my direction
I'll be round, I'll be round
When your bird is broken
will it bring you down
You may be awoken
I'll be round, I'll be round
You tell me that you've heard every sound there is
And your bird can swing
But you can't hear me
You can't hear me |
