pianojohn113 Hey, there's no "real" way to learn music, just as long as you get it and enjoy yourself! I'm glad you liked it. :-)

pianojohn113 Glad to do it for you!

SteamrollerOfFunk You're awesome. You really are. I can't tell you how gratified I am for this. Sometimes sheet music is just too much to swallow, and I know this isn't the "real" way to learn music, but hey, now I know something I didn't before. Thank you so much.

goriandmusic you´ve became my favourite youtube user!!! thank you so much for this tutorials

Dratini999 Vice verda XD 16 years old and just started to play the guitar but I play piano for a few years now and this was very helpful. Thanks ^^

bollix13 Fair play to ya PJ113, I'm a mediocre guitarist who just about knows a few notes on the old Joanna!! I'm gonna start with something a little slower!! But glad to know this is here!!

nachomerlo Thx!

thehungryduck Upvote for "you're"

dylanmart93 Nice!

GuitarZzann lol same here, 16 playing guitar and a little piano cause I want to learn this song, and more later on ;]

679j Really awesome tutorial. I'm using it a lot to learn the song, thank you so much John, you are very good at making tutorials!

UZworm Nice version you do here, it's a lot fuller sounding than the original record.

aqua1993 looks a lot easier than it sounds ^^ thnx now i'll be motivated to learn :D

Cutufrum hey I'm 16 adn I play the GUitar, I play some piano and I ahve been trying to figure this song, this is really helpful THANKS!!

monkeyjoe123 thanks your amazing, i just practiced a lot and i got it!

ailacay you're an amazing teacher! thanks soooo much!!

leafs98 Would you happen to have the sheet music for Lady Madonna, pianojohn? By the way, your tutorials are probably the best I have seen for piano

Jeffpiano77 John, your tutorials are amazingly well done and I appreciate the way you slow things down, then play them fullspeed. I've been playing this song for many years and have a suggestion...regarding the right-hand part of the intro...try it without the middle finger..and at the start, instead of just C#, roll into it with a super quick "C" just before the C#. Hard to say in text, but do you get what I'm saying? Sounds more like the record. Same at the end..2 notes only in the right hand; rolls.

monkeyjoe123 I'm just beginning but this is helping a lot. Much appreciated and you are awesome!

Stratocaster42 Ah, and also - when the left hand moves up (From the A to the A octave), I normally play a B in the right hand when the left hand reaches the G, and then when the Left hand reaches the high A, I play the C# again. Not sure why I'm telling you this :S Just thought you may be interested to hear.

Stratocaster42 Interesting. You definitely play it differently to me. For the first bit, instead of starting on a C#, E, A, I start with a C, E, A and then move up to the C#, E, A on the second beat insead of playing the C#,E,A twice. Hope that made sense :S . Very good video though :) Thanks :)

flikmuth88 hey! Thanks so much for this and your other tutorials, definately the best ones on youtube. You explain everything very clearly, plus your piano playing is a lot better than most of the tutors online. Did you use sheet music to learn these beatles songs? Because I have a beatles piano book, but it's not the same as you play and not as good!

jenkins0009 very good. i learned a lot

dboz33 Great lesson! as all yours are. Q: Left hand, when playing the D octaves (lowD-highD-lowD-highD). At that point, there is a little bass run in the recording, right? If I wanted to put that little run into your version I learned, how would that work? Sometimes I hear an F-A instead of the D's, lowD-highD-F-A. Sometimes it sounds like its rolling off the low D somehow so it be something like: lowD-highD-lowD-F-A? maybe...cause other times it sounds to me something totally different. Help!

thejordan1981 Keep posting them Im a pretty good piano player the only thing is that i play by ear so some times i listen to your videos to learn knew music and it is very helpful within 5 min after watching your videos i can play the song that you play keep playing them and thank you the jordan

Check out these Paul McCartney Recordings:

Electric Arguments

Paul McCartney's 2008 album with producer Youth. Each track written,recorded and sung in the space of one day with Paul McCartney, playing all instruments. 'The album's opener is classic rock and an instant attention grabber. A heavy guitar riff with loud drums and souring vocals, it's like nothing The Fireman have ever done before.' The Fireman are back after a ten-year break. Electric Arguments is their third and brand new studio album and it's not the album people might expect from the mysterious duo.'

2008-12-28 -- 4/5:: What's That Sound?
Paul McCartney has produced an experimental-sounding set with each track focused on its musical ideas. The packaging is unusual with a book with disposable pictures and little information about the recordings. No songwriter credits are listed; although one assumes that since the copyright is by Paul's MPL Communications that he must be the composer. The website announces "Paul is the Fireman." Many of the tracks seem like song sketches, but are very interesting. "Sing the Changes" is one of my favorite tracks with its driving rock beat and echo chamber vocals, "Feel the fire; feel the thunder." "Traveling Light" begins with atmospheric keyboards before Paul's esoteric haunting vocals, "I swim in the blue sea. I walk on the sand. I fly through the blue sky to wherever you land." "Highway" rocks with a chorus of thousands of background vocals, "Everybody's wondering what's that sound!" "Sun Is Shining" bubbles like a cheerful morning. "Lifelong Passion" has Beatlesque echoes on a track that floats in one ear & out the other, "Give me love love love love, Be my lifelong passion." "Is This Love?," "Lovers in a Dream" & "Universal Here, Everlasting Now" seem like sonic experiments. "Electric Arguments" is a good disc because it puts the emphasis on the music, rather than on clever song ideas. Paul shines with much of this effort and is always fascinating. Enjoy!

2008-12-26 -- 5/5:: Definately magic from Sir Paul
I recommend this as the BEST cd I have purchased this year of 2008! I bought this on the premise of loving the most recent of 2 of his 3 cds cds "Driving Rain", and "Memeory Almost Full". This is different,of course, but none the less exceptional! Blues, Psychodelia, drony, even a touch of his comrade George H.on track 9,"Lifelong Passion". But I must say for me, Track 8,"Dance 'Til We're High" is the EPIDOMY of a Paul track!. Beautiful melody of chord changes, yet still a straight subtle rocker in 4/4 time. At 66, Sir Paul has lost NOTHING musically!!!, and deserves the accolade of: one of, if not 'THE' songwriter in music history! PLEASE!,just >>>Buy it!

2008-12-26 -- 5/5:: The Fireman frees McCartney to be McCartney without the baggage of his career
It must be hell being Paul McCartney when it comes to creating a new album. Alwasys in the shadow of The Beatles, John Lennon and his own prolific body of work. His latest collaboration with Youth The Fireman's "Electric Arguments" frees McCartney from being McCartney and allows him to create one of his best albums.

Mixing elements of ambient, bluesy rock with a tad of influence from Brian Eno, Moby and other artists allows McCartney in collaboration with his Fireman cohort Youth to create one of his most compelling albums. Every song here from "Sing the Changes" to the blues infused vocal of "Nothing Too Much Just Out of Sight" are a terrific change of pace for McCartney allowing him to create some of his most unique music of his solo career.

Take a listen to the samples. I should warn you this sounds very little like Wings, very little like the music that McCartney made in from the 80's through the 90's. That's a good thing. It's McCartney rediscovering his muse and tackling the type of stuff he really hasn't tried since the White Album.

Highly recommended.

2008-12-24 -- 5/5:: I hate the beatles
Wow - if I didn't hear it on NPR I would never have bought the CD. Track #3 is worth the cost of the whole thing. F'n brilliant.

2008-12-22 -- 5/5:: Electric Arguments
No arguments here! McCartney and Youth have combined for probably their best collaboration to date. #3 in the Fireman collection, this album far outshines the first two albums.

The Beatles - Lady Madonna High Quality: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xT4F_zALYk&feature=email&fmt=18 Copyright - 1968 EMI Records Ltd. "Lady Madonna" is a song by The Beatles, written mostly by Paul McCartney and credited to Lennon/McCartney.

...More

In March 1968 it was released as a single, backed by "The Inner Light". The song was recorded at Abbey Road Studios during sessions on 3 February and 6 February 1968 before the Beatles left for India. This single was the last release by the band on Parlophone in the UK and Capitol Records in the U.S. All subsequent releases, starting with "Hey Jude" in August of 1968, were released on their own label Apple Records, under EMI distribution, until the late 1970s, when Capitol and Parlophone re-released old material. Inspiration The piano playing on this song was inspired by 1950s rock/blues pianist, Fats Domino. McCartney recalled in 1994, "'Lady Madonna' was me sitting down at the piano trying to write a bluesy boogie-woogie thing ... It reminded me of Fats Domino for some reason, so I started singing a Fats Domino impression. It took my voice to a very odd place."[1] Domino himself would cover the song later in 1968, and it would become his most recent U.S. Hot 100 hit (peaking at exactly #100). The song and in particular the introduction are similar to Humphrey Lyttelton's "Bad Penny Blues" from 1956. John Lennon helped write the lyrics. The line "see how they run" was included after his suggestion (and was a theme that had been used in the previous year's "I Am the Walrus"). The saxophone solo was played by British jazz musician and club owner Ronnie Scott. The mix used in the single had much of Scott's saxophone removed, but the versions on Anthology 2 and Love feature a more prominent use of Ronnie's solo, at the end of the song. In a recent BBC do#@!&entary, Timewatch, McCartney explained the decision behind this saying that at the time, Scott had not been impressed that his music had been hidden behind other instruments, so McCartney had decided to fix it with the most recent mix. Recorded Abbey Road Studios, 3 February-6 February 1968 Lyrics: Lady Madonna, children at your feet Wonder how you manage to make ends meet Who find the money when you pay the rent Did you think that money was heaven sent Friday night arrives without a suitcase Sunday morning creeping like a nun Monday's child has learned to tie his bootlegs See how they run Lady Madonna, baby at your breast Wonders how you manage to feed the rest Pa pa pa pa... See how they run Lady Madonna lying on the bed Listen to the music playing in your head Tuesday afternoon is never ending Wednesday morning papers didn't come Thursday night you stocking needed mending See how they run Lady Madonna, children at your feet Wonder how you manage to make ends meet

ures John Lennon singing lead, who is also the primary composer (though, as with all Beatles songs written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney, alone or in collaboration, the song is credited to Lennon/McCartney). Composition One night in 1967, the phrase "words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup" came to Lennon after hearing his then-wife Cynthia, according to Lennon, "going on and on about something". Later, after "she'd gone to sleep—and I kept hearing these words over and over, flowing like an endless stream", Lennon went downstairs and it turned into a sort of cosmic song. He began to write the rest of the lyrics and when he was done, he went to bed and forgot about them. In the morning, Lennon found the paper on which he had written the lyrics and took them down to his piano, where he began to play chords, and find pitches to match the words. The flavor of the song was heavily influenced by Lennon's and The Beatles' short-lived interest in Transcendental Meditation in late 1967--early 1968, when the song was composed. Based on this he added the mantra Jai guru deva om to the piece, which became the link to the chorus. The Sanskrit phrase is a sentence fragment whose words could have many meanings, but roughly translate to "Victory to God divine","hail to the divine guru", or the phrase commonly invoked by the late Maharishi Mahesh Yogi "All Glory to Guru Deva" then the mystic syllable om, which is theoretically the cosmic sound of the universe and used by monks during meditation. The song's lyrical structure is straightforward: three repetitions of a unit consisting of a verse, the line "Jai guru deva om" and the line "Nothing's gonna change my world" repeated four times. The lyrics are highly image-based, with abstract concepts reified with phrases like thoughts "meandering", words "slithering", and undying love "shining". The title phrase "across the universe" appears at intervals to finish lines, although interestingly it never cadences, always appearing as a rising figure, melodically unresolved. In his 1970 interview with Rolling Stone, Lennon referred to the song as perhaps the best, most poetic lyric he ever wrote. In February 1968, The Beatles convened at the EMI Abbey Road studios to record a single for release during their absence on their forthcoming trip to India. Paul McCartney had written "Lady Madonna" and John "Across the Universe". Both tracks were recorded along with Lennon's "Hey Bulldog" and the vocal track for George's "The Inner Light" between the 3rd and 11th of February. Whilst the basic track was successfully recorded on the 4 February, Lennon wasn't satisfied with the feel of the track. Several innovations were tried, including blowing through comb onto paper and humming to add texture to the track, and the addition of a pedal guitar and tambora. In the end, according to Lennon, McCartney persuaded John to call in the services of Lizzie Bravo and Gayleen Pease, two of the so-called Apple scruffs (the female fans who collected outside the studio) to add harmony vocals. Lennon later cited this as evidence of McCartney's "[s]ubconscious sabotage" of Lennon's compositions, saying Paul would have used professional session singers if it was McCartney's own work. Lyrics: Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup They slither while they pass They slip away across the universe Pools of sorrow waves of joy are drifting thorough my open mind Possessing and caressing me Jai guru deva om Nothing's gonna change my world Nothing's gonna change my world Nothing's gonna change my world Nothing's gonna change my world Images of broken light which dance before me like a million eyes They call me on and on across the universe Thoughts meander like a restless wind inside a letter box they tumble blindly as they make their way across the universe Jai guru deva om Nothing's gonna change my world Nothing's gonna change my world Nothing's gonna change my world Nothing's gonna change my world Sounds of laughter shades of life are ringing through my open ears inciting and inviting me Limitless undying love which shines around me like a million suns It calls me on and on across the universe Jai guru deva om Nothing's gonna change my world Nothing's gonna change my world Nothing's gonna change my world Nothing's gonna change my world Jai guru deva Jai guru deva
