~ Paul McCartney And Wings - Jet
Views: 105513 | | | | | PLEASE SUSCRIBE! =)
Another Great Song of paul
"Jet" was a hit song from Paul McCartney and Wings' Band on the Run album. The song peaked at #7 in both the UK and U.S. charts on March 30th, 1974.
Lyrics:
Jet! i can almost remember their funny face ...More s
That time you told me that
You were going to be marrying soon.
And jet, i thought the only
Lonely place was on the moon.
Jet! jet!
Jet! was your father as bold as a sergeant major?
How come he told you that
You were hardly old enough yet?
And jet, i thought the major
Was a lady suffragette.
Jet! jet!
Ah, matter, want jet to always love me?
Ah, matter, want jet to always love me?
Ah, matter, much later.
Jet! with the wind in your hair of a thousand laces.
Climb on the back and we'll
Go for a ride in the sky.
And jet, i thought the major
Was a lady suffragette.
Jet! jet! |

"Band on the Run" is the title song from Paul McCartney and Wings' acclaimed Band on the Run album, one of McCartney's mo ...More st ambitious and best-loved songs. It is composed of a three-part structure that revolves around the themes of escape and liberation. The song features prominently on every McCartney/Wings best-of compilation and in McCartney's live shows. The song was considered the best evidence that McCartney's muse had not deserted him after The Beatles. It was the second of six number-one singles for the band on the Billboard Hot 100.
George Harrison contributed the line in the middle section "If we ever get out of here."
A part of the middle section would later be sampled by Tone Lōc on his 1989 track "Cutting Rhythms", but had to be removed as permission was not given. Eve Of Summer remixed it in 2007, for their album "7".
A cover version of "Band on the Run" was recorded in 2007 by Foo Fighters as their contribution to the Radio 1. Established 1967 album. This album, commemorating BBC Radio 1's 40th anniversary, features a cover version of a song released in each of the station's 40 years recorded by a modern-day band or solo artist; "Band on the Run" being the song selected to represent 1974. On 1st June 2008, McCartney was joined onstage by Foo Fighters lead singer Dave Grohl for a special performance in Liverpool. Grohl played guitar and sang backing vocals on Band on the Run and then played drums on Beatles songs Back in the U.S.S.R. and I Saw Her Standing There.
Lyrics:
Stuck inside these four walls, sent inside forever,
Never seeing no one nice again like you,
Mama you, mama you.
If I ever get out of here,
Thought of giving it all away
To a registered charity.
All I need is a pint a day
If I ever get out of here.
Well, the rain exploded with a mighty crash as we fell into the sun,
And the first one said to the second one there I hope youre having fun.
Band on the run, band on the run.
And the jailer man and sailor sam were searching every one
For the band on the run, band on the run, band on the run, band on the run
Well, the undertaker drew a heavy sigh seeing no one else had come,
And a bell was ringing in the village square for the rabbits on the run.
Band on the run, band on the run.
And the jailer man and sailor sam, were searching every one
For the band on the run, band on the run, band on the run, band on the run
Well, the night was falling as the desert world began to settle down.
In the town theyre searching for us every where, but we never w ill be found.
Band on the run, band on the run
And the county judge, who held a grudge
Will search for evermore
For the band on the run, band on the run, band on the run, band on the run |

~ The Beatles - Misery

High Quality: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CV7l0BRjMEk&feature=related&fmt=18
Copyright - 1963 EMI Records Ltd.
"Misery" is a song performed by the The Beatles on their album Please Please Me. It was written by John Lennon ...More and Paul McCartney. According to Lennon, "it was kind of a John song more than a Paul song, but it was written together." McCartney was to say: "I don't think either one of us dominated on that one, it was just a hacking job".
In February 1963, Helen Shapiro was Britain's most successful female singer, and the Beatles were fifth on the bill for her nationwide tour of the UK. Shapiro's artist and repertoire manager, Norrie Paramor was looking for new material for a country and western album she planned to record in Nashville, Tennessee, and suggested the Beatles compose a song for her. Shapiro had first achieved chart success in 1961 at the age of 14, and Lennon and McCartney took the opportunity to have her record one of their songs. "Misery" was written especially for her, and was started backstage before their performance at the King's Hall, Stoke-on-Trent on 26 January, and later completed at McCartney's Forthlin Road home. At the time, McCartney commented: " We've called it "Misery", but it isn't as slow as it sounds, it moves along at quite a pace, and we think Helen will make a pretty good job of it". Ultimately, Paramor considered it unsuitable, but British singer and entertainer Kenny Lynch, who was on the same tour, did record it (HMV Pop 1136), and became the first artist to cover a Lennon/McCartney composition although he failed to chart with it. (Kenny Lynch was later to appear on the cover of Paul McCartney's Band On The Run album). When the Beatles needed original material for their Please Please Me LP they recorded it themselves, giving its treatment, according to writer Ian MacDonald, "a droll portrait of adolescent self-pity".
It was credited to McCartney and Lennon in that order, as were all other Lennon & McCartney originals on the Please Please Me album. The songwriting credit was changed to what would become the more familiar "Lennon & McCartney" for their second album, With The Beatles.
Recorded 11 February 1963
Lyrics:
Lyrics:
The world is treating me bad
Misery
I'm the kind of guy
Who never used to cry
The world is treatin' me bad
Misery
I've lost her now for sure
I won't see here no more
It's gonna be a drag
Misery
I'll remember all the little things we've done
Can't she see she'll always be the only one
Only one
Send her back to me
Cause everyone can see
Without her I will be
In misery
I'll remember all the little things we've done
She'll remember and she'll miss her lonely one
Lonely one
Send her back to me
Cause everyone can see
Without her I will be
In misery
Oh, oh in misery
Woo, my misery

~ Paul McCartney and Wings - Junior's Farm.

"Junior's Farm" is a song written by Paul McCartney and recorded by Paul McCartney and Wings. A #3 hit single in the US, it was recorded in Nashville, Tennessee in 1974, while the band was staying at the farm of C ...More urly Putman Jr., which accounts for the title. The song continued McCartney and Wings' success after the Band on the Run album. However it only made #16 on the British charts.
A special full-colour photo was taken for this single's sleeve, which featured the members of Wings dressed in appropriate costumes from the song's lyrics (for example, Geoff Britton as a poker dealer and Denny Laine as the "Eskimo"). However, the photo only appeared on the picture sleeve of the single in Spain (see alternate cover). In the UK, a black-and-white photo of Wings was used instead, and in the US, Apple Records released the single without any picture sleeve.
The B-side, "Sally G," was also a Top 20 hit on the US charts, peaking at #17. Although "Junior's Farm" was never released on one of McCartney's original albums, "Sally G" was released in 1993 on "Wings at the Speed of Sound" in The Paul McCartney Collection.
This was the last Wings (or McCartney) release on Apple Records.
Lyrics
Junior's Farm
Paul McCartney & Wings
You should have seem me with the poker man
I had a honey and I bet a grand
Just in the nick of time I looked at his hand
I was talking to an Eskimo
Said he was hoping for a fall of snow
When up popped a sea lion ready to go
Chorus
Let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go
Down to Junior's Farm where I wanna lay low
Low life, high life, oh let's go
Take me down to Junior's Farm
At the Houses of Parliament
Ev'rybody's talking 'bout the President
We all chip in for a bag of cement
Ollie Hardy should have had more sense
He bought a gee-gee and he jumped the fence
All for the sake of a couple of pence
Let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go
Down to Junior's Farm where I wanna lay low
Low life, high life, oh let's go
Take me down to Junior's Farm
Let's go, let's go
Down to Junior's Farm where I wanna lay low
Low life, high life, oh let's go
Take me down to Junior's Farm
Everybody tag along
I took my bag into a grocer's store
The price is higher than the time before
Old man asked me "Why is it more?"
I said "You should have seem me with the poker man
I had a honey and I bet a grand
Just in the nick of time I looked at his hand
Let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go
Down to Junior's Farm where I wanna lay low
Low life, high life, oh let's go
Take me down to Junior's Farm
Let's go, let's go
Down to Junior's Farm where I wanna lay low
Low life, high life, oh let's go
Take me down to Junior's Farm
Everybody tag along
Take me down to Junior's Farm
Take me back, take me back
I wanna go there... |

~ Paul McCartney :: "Coming Up" [HQ]

Like the rest of the album, the song had a minimalist synthesized feel to it. It featured humourously-processed lead vocals from McCartn ...More ey, who played all the instruments and shared harmonies with wife Linda.
Despite his ambivalent feelings about McCartney's solo success, John Lennon was complimentary of this song, and it partially inspired Lennon's own 1980 comeback.[1] It was McCartney's final hit during Lennon's lifetime. A live version of the song was recorded by Wings in concert in December 1979 in Glasgow, Scotland. This version had a much fuller sound and was included as one of the two songs on the B-side of the single; the other B-side was also a Wings song, "Lunchbox/Odd Sox", that dated back to the Venus and Mars sessions. Both B-sides were credited to Paul McCartney & Wings (see the alternate cover).
In the US, radio stations bypassed the McCartney solo A-side and played the live Wings B-side.[2] To help sales of McCartney II, a special single-sided 45rpm promotional white-label copy of the Wings version was included with the album in North America.
The live Wings version has since appeared on various McCartney best-of compilations. For example, on the McCartney and Wings greatest hits album Wingspan, the live Wings version is included on the US/Canada releases, while the McCartney solo studio version is included on the UK release.
A different live Wings recording of "Coming Up" appears on the album version of the Concerts for the People of Kampuchea, with an additional verse that was edited out of the Glasgow release. "Coming Up" is also well known for its video. It is an early example of electronic trickery, with Paul McCartney playing ten roles and Linda McCartney playing two. The "band" features Paul and Linda's imitations of several famous rock musicians; some are more easily recognizable than others. The characters include Buddy Holly (guitar), Ginger Baker (drums), Ron Mael of Sparks (keyboards), , a Beatlemania-era version of Paul (bass and backing vocals), Andy MacKay (sax), Frank Zappa (sax!), as well as a long-haired guitarist (strongly resembling Neil Young), two sax players and a male backing singer (performed by Linda) that have yet to be identified with any certainty. The B-side, the live Wings version of "Coming Up", became a #1 U.S. Billboard Hot 100 hit in June 1980. The A-side, the McCartney solo version, reached #2 in the UK.
"Coming Up" is the only Paul McCartney song to hit the top of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart that was officially credited by Billboard to McCartney as a solo artist, despite the fact that the "Live At Glasgow" version of "Coming Up" that actually topped the U.S. chart was performed by (and credited to) McCartney & Wings. All other Billboard number-one singles involving McCartney after the Beatles are officially credited to either Paul & Linda McCartney ("Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey"), Paul McCartney & Wings ("My Love," "Band On The Run"), Wings ("Listen To What The Man Said", "Silly Love Songs," "With A Little Luck"), Paul McCartney & Stevie Wonder ("Ebony & Ivory") and Paul McCartney & Michael Jackson ("Say, Say, Say"). That oddity makes McCartney the ex-Beatle to top the charts both the most (in conjunction with Wings and others) and the least (by himself) after the band's breakup. Ringo Starr and John Lennon registered two U.S. pop number-one hits apiece, while George Harrison had three, all of which were credited to them alone. |
