"I Me Mine" is a Beatles song, written and sung by George Harrison. The song traces its origins to the January ...More 1969 Get Back/Let It Be sessions, when it was rehearsed by the band at Twickenham Studios. The Let It Be film features a segment in which Harrison plays the song for Ringo Starr, describing it as "a heavy waltz"; the band is then seen performing the tune while John Lennon dances with Yoko Ono.
However, the Beatles did not properly record the song during the January 1969 sessions. When director Michael Lindsay-Hogg chose to include the "I Me Mine" segment in the Let It Be film, the Beatles decided to make a proper recording of the song for inclusion on the accompanying album. Paul McCartney, George and Ringo (with John Lennon, having privately quit the group in September 1969, not present) met in the studio on January 3-4 1970 to record a new version of the song. This version of the song begins with George stating, in a joking reference to Lennon's absence and the British pop group Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich, "You all will have read that Dave Dee is no longer with us, but Mickey and Tich and I, just like to carry on the good work that's always gone down in number two", (meaning Abbey Road Studio Two). Their final rendition lasted 1:45 (this original version would later be included on The Beatles Anthology Vol. 3 CD); Phil Spector extended it by copying and repeating a section. Spector also overdubbed a string accompaniment. The final version as "re-produced" by Spector was featured on the re-titled Get Back album, Let It Be. A similar edit, without Spector's overdubs of strings, is available on 2003's Let It Be... Naked.
The January 1970 recording session for this song is the last recording session by The Beatles (at least until the Free as a Bird/Real Love reunion sessions), though many people feel that the session "doesn't count" as John Lennon had previously announced his intent to leave the band and was absent (although Lennon did not perform on the versions of "I Me Mine" rehearsed during the January 1969 Twickenham sessions either, as can be seen in the Let It Be film). Those that hold this opinion would argue that the session for "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" or "The End" is actually the last, as both were among the last songs recorded collectively by all four Beatles.
Quoted from Harrison: "[I Me Mine is] about the ego, the eternal problem." The set of pronouns which forms the song's title is a conventional way of referring to the ego in a Hindu context. For example, the Bhagavad Gita 2:71-72 can be translated as "They are forever free who renounce all selfish desires and break away from the ego-cage of "I," "me," and "mine" to be united with the Lord. This is the supreme state. Attain to this, and pass from death to immortality." Perhaps unconsciously, the song also reflects Harrison's reaction to the clashes of egos in the Beatles' painful closing days as a group.
George, after receiving his "eternal problem" inspiration, played some chords to the 6/8 time signature, and added a bluesy bridge.
It is also the title of George Harrison's autobiography, published in 1980 as a hand-bound, limited edition book by Genesis Publications. Limited to 2,000 signed copies, I Me Mine also featured a foreword by Derek Taylor. The Genesis limited edition sold out soon after publication, and was subsequently published in hardback and paperback in black ink only by Simon and Schuster in New York and by W H Allen in London. I Me Mine was re-published, with a new Foreword from Olivia Harrison, in 2002.
Lyrics:
All through the day
I me mine, I me mine, I me mine
All through the night
I me mine, I me mine, I me mine
Mow they're frightened of leaving it
Everyone's reading it
comin' on strong all the time
All through the day
I me mine
I me me mine, I me me mine
I me me mine
All I can hear
I me mine, I me mine, I me mine
Even those tears
I me mine, I me mine, I me mine
No one's frightened of playing it
Everyone's saying it
Flowing more freely that wine
All through the day
I me mine
I me me mine, I me me mine
I me me mine
All I can hear
I me mine, I me mine, I me mine
Even those tears
I me mine, I me mine, I me mine
No one's frightened of playing it
Everyone's saying it
Flowing more freely that wine
All through the life

REVOLUTION 9: MINUTE BY MINUTE: http://users.tinyonline.co.uk/ian.simpson/ian.simpson/rev%209%20minutes.htm
"Revolution ...More 9" or sometimes "Revolution #9" is a song (technically an audio collage) which appeared on The Beatles' 1968 self-titled LP release (also known as the White Album).
The recording began as an extended ending to the album version of "Revolution", to which were added vocal and music sound clips, tape loops, and sound effects influenced by the musique concrète styles of Karlheinz Stockhausen, Edgard Varèse, Luigi Nono, and John Cage, further manipulated with editing and sound modification techniques (stereo panning and fading). At over eight minutes, it is the longest track on the album, as well as the longest Beatles track ever officially released.
The work is credited to Lennon/McCartney (as were most Beatles songs written by either composer), though it was primarily the effort of John Lennon. George Harrison, Ringo Starr, and Yoko Ono made small contributions, while Paul McCartney did not actively participate in the track's creation. Ono's avant-garde influence on Lennon's songwriting and composition is clear throughout "Revolution 9."
Believing the track to be too uncommercial for even the Beatles to get away with, McCartney and producer George Martin fought hard to keep the track off the White Album, but Lennon and Ono won out, and the track was included as the second from last song at the end of the album's fourth side.
Structure and content
"Revolution 9" starts with a conversation between George Martin and Alistair Taylor:
Alistair Taylor: ...bottle of Claret for you if I'd realized. I'd forgotten all about it George, I'm sorry.
George Martin: Well, do next time.
Taylor: Will you forgive me?
Martin: Mmmm...yes....
Taylor: Cheeky #@!&.
(Although this conversation is usually known to be the beginning of "Revolution 9," the time tracking from the CD indicates it as the tail end of the previous track, "Cry Baby Cry," following Paul's short solo song "Can You Take Me Back.")
After a brief piano introduction, a loop of a male repeating the words "number nine" (taken from an EMI examination tape) begins to be heard. This phrase fades in and out throughout the recording as a motif. Then there is chaos: feedback, impromptu screaming, rehearsed overdubs, and more tape loops.
As some portions of "Revolution 9" are recordings of other music (from bits of Sibelius and Beethoven, to a backward snippet of a tuning orchestra, culled from the session tapes for A Day in the Life), the piece can be seen as an early example of sampling. Other audio elements include various bits of apparently nonsensical dialogue spoken by Lennon and Harrison, various found sounds, reversed sounds and recordings of American football chants. Also heard is the "all right" from the end of Revolution 1 (this piece was supposed to be the coda to Revolution 1 but was pushed back to several tracks after it). Also at 6:48 you can hear what seems to be the intro to Harrison's "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" played much faster on piano.
[edit] "Paul is Dead" significance
"Revolution 9" played an important part in the infamous "Paul is dead" controversy. Most notably, the repeated "number nine" played backwards can be heard as "Turn me on, dead man." If one listens carefully, the "babble", many believe, includes other hints left by the band about Paul's alleged death, including "My wings are broken," "Paul is Dead... Since the..his suicide was..." and "Get me out!" As the "Paul is dead" rumours were quickly debunked, these "clues" are creative misinterpretations of "Revolution 9", but they remain an interesting footnote to the Beatles' history. The mob sounds throughout are believed to be the people circling around Paul McCartney's "fatal car crash".
Related works
While "Revolution #9" is the Beatles' longest and easily strangest recording, it is not the only avant-garde song they recorded in their career. There is another, legendary recording known as "Carnival of Light", written by Paul McCartney and recorded by the Beatles during the Sgt. Pepper sessions on 5 January 1967. Like "Revolution 9", Carnival of Light is an avant garde piece, and clocks in at 13:48 minutes. The song has never been released, nor has it even been bootlegged. Very few people have ever heard the track. Paul McCartney has confirmed its existence, and the track was supposed to appear on Anthology 2 but George Harrison or George Martin vetoed it. |

~ Northern Red Cardinal listen to the music of Paul McCartney in Quebec
Views: 5131 | | | | | The wonderful Red Cardinal (Cardinalis cardinalis) - Northern Cardinal,
Video taken on January 27, 2008 in the garden behind the house to Quebec, Canada
Unfortunately, we do not see at the top on his head his beautiful red crest, it lowers his crest whe ...More n it makes his territory or when they feel threatened. His feathers of a beautiful bright red invariably attracts the gaze on him. It is very suspicious, discreet and not let in any case approach, but I must say that I was lucky because it did not appear disturbed by my presence because he stayed long enough so that I can take several photographs and a video or it seems appreciate the music of Paul McCartney ... lol This bird is always present at the feeders in the winter, in the early morning and at the end of the afternoon. His singing is superb, as you will hear at sunrise and at the end of the day.
The Northern Cardinal (Cardinalis cardinalis), also known as the Redbird and the Virginia nightingale, is a North American bird in the Cardinal family. It is found from southern Canada through the eastern United States from Maine to Texas and south through Mexico to northern Guatemala and Belize. It is found in woodlands, gardens, shrublands, and swamps.
The Northern Cardinal is a mid-sized songbird with a body length of 21-23 cm (8.3 to 9 inches). It has a distinctive crest on the head and a mask on the face which is black in the male and gray in the female. It displays sexual dimorphism in its coloration; the male is a vibrant red, while the female is a dull red-brown shade. The Northern Cardinal is mainly granivorous, but also feeds on insects and fruit. The male behaves territorially, marking out his territory with song. During courtship, the male feeds seed to the female beak-to-beak. A clutch of three to four eggs is laid, and two to four clutches are produced each year. It was once prized as a pet, but its sale as cage birds is now banned in the United States by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918.
