1980.
"Feel like you've never felt before.
Here we are, where are we?
Cast adrift on some uncharted sea.
I know we'll find our way,
I know we'll reach the end,
If you will say you'll be my secret friend.
Night ...More draws in, once again,
As she turns her velvet collar up,
A perfect day will end.
If you will say you'll be my secret friend.
Feel like you've never felt before, once more.
Night draws in, once again,
As she turns her velvet collar up,
A perfect day will end.
If you will say you'll be my secret friend.
Feel like you've never felt before,
Come on, baby,
Just make sure you're gonna feel that way again.
Don't you know you do it?
Yeah-hey-hey-hey-yeah, yeah,
Yeah, yeah, yeah-hey-hey-yi-yeah.
Oh-oh-oh.
Here we are, where are we?
Cast adrift on some uncharted sea.
I know we'll find our way,
If you will say you'll be my secret friend.
Do it any way.
Feel like you've never felt before, once more.
I need ya, I need ya, I need ya, yeh, I need ya,
I need ya, yeh, I need ya, yeh, I need ya,
Yeh, I need ya, I need ya, yeh.
Night draws in, one more time,
As she turns her velvet collar up,
A perfect day will end.
If you will say you'll be my secret friend, yeh, yeh.
Feel like you've never felt before, once more, once more.
Here we are, where are we?
Cast adrift on some uncharted sea.
I know we'll find our way,
If you will say you'll be my secret friend.
I need ya, I need ya, I need ya, yeh, I need ya,
Need ya, I need ya, I need ya, I need ya,
Yeh, I need ya". |

~ Paul McCartney - Temporary Secretary
Views: 750 | | | | | A song (quite clearly) in the form of a letter to the Alfred Marks employment bureau, who after hearing it, asked permission to use the song in a radio advert.
Oddly, they were turned down.
Next follows the more experimental Temporary Secretary. The son ...More g is based upon an hypnotic rhythm played on the keyboard and which can be seen as a forerunner of today's techno beat.
Along with the ten-minute Secret Friend as it's B-side, it was released as a UK only 12" single. A 7" Single exists only as a demo for radio stations. It exemplifies both the whimsical nature of the album and McCartney's use of synthesizers and other electronics in the creation of the album.
Lines such as "Mr Marks could you send her quick?" are a reference to the Alfred Marks employment agency, a national business specialising in secretaries and other office staff.
Mister Marks Can You Find For Me
Someone Strong And Sweet Fitting On My Knee
She Can Keep Her Job If She Gets It Wrong
Ah, But Mister Marks I Won't Need Her Long
All I Need Is Help For A Little While
We Can Take Dictation And Learn To Smile
And A Temporary Secretary Is What I Need For To Do The Job
I Need A
Temporary Secretary, Temporary Secretary
Temporary Secretary, Temporary Secretary
Mister Marks Could You Send Her Quick
'Cause My Regular Has Been Getting Sick
I Need A
Temporary Secretary, Temporary Secretary
Mister Marks I Can Pay Her Well
If She Comes Along And Can Stay A Spell
I Will Promise Now That I'll Treat Her Right
And Will Rarely Keep Her 'Til Late At Night
I Need A ..
She Can Be A Belly Dancer
I Don't Need A Need Romancer
She Can Be A Diplomat
But I Don't Need A Girl Like That
She Can Be A Neurosurgeon
If She's Doin' Nothing' Urgent
What I Need's A Temporary, Temporary Secretary
I Need A, I Need A
Temporary Secretary. Temporary Secretary
Temporary Secretary, Temporary Secretary
Temporary Secretary, Temporary Secretary
Now Mister Marks When I Send Her Back
Will You Please Make Sure She Stays On The Right Track
Spoken: Well I Know How Hard It Is For Young Girls These Days In The Face Of Everything To Stay On
The Right Track
What I Need's A Temporary, Temporary Secretary
Temporary Secretary I Need A /
Temporary Secretary, Temporary Secretary,
Temporary Secretary I Need A
Temporary Secretary. Temporary Secretary,
Temporary Secretary. |
