Pepsi1072 thanks!
risikaarya Maybe we should protest like that. Then maybe they would get the message that the soldiers need to get out of Iraq. It's another needless war.
humanist999 "whats goin' down" was general jargon for (basically)"what was happening", in this case political protesting, culteral upheaval, disgust with a corrupt military campaign, etc. "whats that sound" would be the sounds all around, tv, newspapers, screaming protesters, gunfire and death on the tube every single day, day after day, etc
Pepsi1072 Could someone tell me what their talking about when they say look whats going down, and what sound their talking about when they say what's that sound?

ptracy4 Stephen Stills wrote the song when the Sunset Strip riots in 1966 occurred, when the authorities shut down the Pandora's Box nightclub. The rock club was on an island in the middle of the boulevard and created congestion. The locals in Hollywood put political pressure on to close the club (along with other clubs) and enforce the curfew. The kids got mad, and things got a bit wild for awhile.
BrandonOppliger haha is that really him?
xnoobsnipxSF huhhh i dont think soo because my dad is 55 he explained this song to me
TaoistSoldier this song is actually not even about vietnam. It's about how in California they outlawed lottering, so they could arrest whoever they wanted without any real cause. Which turned out to be mostly hippies and they would search them and for so much as a nickle bag or a joint they would arrest them and the anti marijuana laws were so strict these kids would go to jail for a joint.
Slayer877 The problem was that NVC were backed by china the US was fighting the war to make the enemey surrender not to win.

Jasonhb07 Very True, We almost won the Vietnam but they never brought the bombers back, all those guys that died there for nothing, while people in american just protested and spit at them when they returned, I don't think those soldiers will ever forgive us for that.
Lildrummerboy50 best protest song ever Peace and Love
lluuttzz yeah dude war is just a part of our pointless life. kill or get killed. love or be loved.
irluckey There was no need for a single American to loose their life in that bull#@!& war, police action, or whatever you wish to call it. When the North Vietnamese invaded the South, if the U.S. was so intent in this not happening, why even negotiate? The solution was so simple. You return to the North in 48 hours, or we will drop a well placed nuclear bomb on your ass. I know, some of you will go nuts over this. But it would have saved so many Americans.
