~ Elton John - Take me to the pilot @ Italy 2002
Views: 1205 | | | | | Elton John - Take me to the pilot
If you feel that it's real I'm on trial
And I'm here in your prison
Like a coin in your mint
I am dented and I'm spent with high treason
Through a glass eye your throne
Is the one danger zone
Take me to the p ...More ilot for control
Take me to the pilot of your soul
Take me to the pilot
Lead me through the chamber
Take me to the pilot
I am but a stranger
Take me to the pilot
Lead me through the chamber
Take me to the pilot
I am but a stranger
Well I know he's not old
And I'm told he's a virgin
For he may be she
But what I'm told is never for certain |

"Your Song" is a ballad composed and performed by Elton John (arguebly his best). The song's lyrics were written by Bernie Taupin. It appeared on John's self-titled second album in 1970.
The song was released in the U.S. in October 1970 as the B-side to "Take Me to the Pilot". Both received airplay, but "Your Song" was preferred by disc jockeys and replaced "Take Me to the Pilot" as the A-side, eventually making both the UK and U.S. top ten charts.
I think what makes this song so great is how it is a blend of so many different musical styles, there's elements of jazz, soul, folk and even hints of R&B at the chorus. The meaning of "Your Song" is an expression of love from an innocent, the lyrics perfectly express this and the fairly complex chord pattern reflects further the complexities of love.
I hope you all enjoy it, special thanks to my good friend Ron for helping me put this together and without whom i would not have uploaded a song for god knows how long - cheers mate;
Duncan
Lyric(Bernie Taupin):
It's a little bit funny this feeling inside
I'm not one of those who can easily hide
I don't have much money but boy if I did
I'd buy a big house where we both could live
If I was a sculptor, but then again, no
Or a man who makes potions in a travelling show
I know it's not much but it's the best I can do
My gift is my song and this one's for you
And you can tell everybody this is your song
It may be quite simple but now that it's done
I hope you don't mind
I hope you don't mind that I put down in words
How wonderful life is while you're in the world
I sat on the roof and kicked off the moss
Well a few of the verses well they've got me quite cross
But the sun's been quite kind while I wrote this song
It's for people like you that keep it turned on
So excuse me forgetting but these things I do
You see I've forgotten if they're green or they're blue
Anyway the thing is what I really mean
Yours are the sweetest eyes I've ever seen |

This video is part of a gift to my Father Romulo ...More Dacoco for Father's Day 2007.
The original video footage was a series of family photos arraigned to music by my brother Pierre Dacoco. I believe he made it for Papa originally, but when we met in 2004 he gave me a copy to take home with me.
The vocal track is sampled from a recording my Father gave to me when I was about 7 years old. I have kept the original tape with me ever since.
Video and audio remix was done by me, using Adobe Primer and Abelton Live.
The song is called "Your Song."

~ The Who - Saturday Night's Alright (For Fighting)
Views: 23076 | | | | | Cover done for The Who's long-time friend Elton John for a tribute CD called Two Rooms that entered the U.S. charts November 9, 1991 and reached #18.
Pete, Roger and John got together to decide which song to cover. Roger was adamant about covering "Sa ...More turday Night's Alright For Fighting" but Pete, as a tip of the hat to Elton for putting "I Can't Explain" in the middle of his cover of "Pinball Wizard", put Elton's old song "Take Me To The Pilot" into the bridge.
Pete and Simon Phillips recorded their parts at one studio (with Simon's drum part either augmented or replaced with an electronic drum track programmed by Jon Astley) and Roger and John recorded their parts at another studio. |
