PimpMasterT i miss his voice before this...you can tell how amazing it was in this vid...he just wasnt use to it. now he wobbles his notes and has a new (good) style but the classic voice was great

ozzymeetsjesus Nope same octave. In some parts he goes lower And he's not really annoying these days, just not as good tone-wise, and it has nothing to do with age. Its technique. The male voice doesn't peak (meaning it doesn't get as good as it can get physically) until age 50. Technically speaking, James with perfect technique could be better in 5 years than he was on the i&w tour. Wanted to reply to that one in public. Oh, and grit would be the tonality he sings with in songs like constant motion.

Whats "grit"? If you take Dickinson, he sounds VERY shrill and nasal on hes high notes these days too, I think that thats the way it is for a bit older singers that sings high notes, or am I wrong? ozzymeetsjesus Nope, not seeing her anymore. I didn't like what his tone became when he was seeing her anyway, and his range wasn't coming back. Jaime is a voice strengthening specialist. He teaches range expansion, grit, and how to hold notes for longer periods of time. With a little luck and a lot of work, he'll get James back to the days where his vibrato wasn't annoying, his tone wasn't all nasal in his upper register, his grit wasn't so 'metallica' and where he could hold a note for days.

888erkan888 So James are not using that woman he has now, and had before the DT-time? Forgot her name. Can James really get better? I think he was good at the latest tour. He was pretty good at the ToT-tour, but was bad at the Octa-tour I think. Does James pay for lessons or maybe Jaime wants to be with james, to great singers togheter? Please explain more, this was intressting for me, I LOVE James Labrie haha.

ozzymeetsjesus Can't change the past. By the way, I talked to Jaime Vendera recently (america's top rock vocal coach) and James Labrie just started taking lessons from him recently. So he's taking a break from touring and getting lessons from a GREAT vocal coach now, so who knows. In a year or so he might be back to images and words tour good, not the same tone obviously, because he's older, but not as nasally, and with no strain and the ability to hit his high notes again. That'd be cool.

Nishiki2407 How could this be his worst period?He sounds much better than compared to now,maybe he felt really bad,most vocalist don't get better with age, these are tough songs to sing night after night James Labrie is not going to sound better at 45 than he did at 31, even with a ruptured vocal cord.

sexypadri I believe this is his worst period, he just ruptured his vocal chords and coudn´t push himself to sing better than that (comparing with other tours).

Nishiki2407 I doubt that.He was probably a bit concerned about how far he should push himself vocally,that's a distraction right there,he was more involved with the Awake album contributing lyrics to Caught in a Web where as on IAW all the songs had been written before hand.
